You may or may not have noticed but I am starting to share my creative writing here on deviantart.  

I've just enrolled on a BA in Creative Writing with the Open College of the Arts in the UK.  It's a distance learning degree and is turning out to be a tremendous amount of work.  The exercises are both interesting and varied, and they do stretch your observational skills and creative powers.

One of the hardest parts of the course is basic time management.   Scheduling in writing time alongside the normal day to day business of running a small farm and making a living is not always easy.  In fact it is entirely too easy to find other more pressing matters to fill the day and night; leaving very little room for coursework.   

Self-discipline is not one of my strong points.  It used to be, but I left that far behind when I graduated from University the first time around.  Learning that about myself has not been particularly pleasant but there it is.  It's a fact that I have to deal with and move on from.  By announcing to the world that this is what I am doing then it means I will have to buckle down and stop making excuses.

I'm not sure where this degree will eventually lead but it's something I felt I just had to do.
